Dominant element of the bathroom, the tub is synonymous with comfort, wellness and relaxation. Here are our tips for choosing the perfect bathtub for you!

The materials

There are three types of baths:

The cast iron tubs

And insulating solid material, the cast iron is resistant to knocks and scratches, however, the cast iron tubs are very heavy and offer a range of shapes rather restricted.

The steel tanks

Even the steel tanks stand up well to scratches and knocks, but they are much lighter than cast iron. The disadvantage is that the steel does not retain heat and therefore these tanks are not insulated and often very noisy, so relax becomes more difficult. The steel, moreover, is rather slippery and splinter easily.

The tanks made of plastic

Acrylic: Strong and insulation, the acrylic bathtubs are very durable and non-slip. The market if they are of different shapes and colors, at reasonable prices.

Quaryl: tanks Quaryl are the same as those in acrylic. Moreover, the Quaryl is modular and allows to create tanks of different shapes: rounded, angled or straight.

Acrylic reinforced : also called top lax, this material has the same characteristics of acrylic and allows you to build the tanks very lightweight and fully recyclable.


With regard to the maintenance of the tanks made of synthetic material, avoids the solvents and other chemicals, and uses preferably the white vinegar.

Shapes and sizes

To choose your model, you have to keep in mind

1. The space you have available:

– For a small bathroom, choose a square basin or compact, which does not occupy much space.
– For bathrooms average, the best choice is a corner bath or asymmetrical.
– For large bathrooms, because they dare to be round pool? To be positioned at the center of the room, must have a diameter comprised between 160 and 180 cm.

2. Your physical structure

Each family member must be able to take advantage of the comfortable to the bath, so keep in mind when choosing not only your physical structure, but also that of your partner that you would not want him to take your cold!

1. The taps

The drive and the thermostatic mixing classical systems are more economical and environmentally friendly. You can install the faucet on the long or short side of the tank, but always choose a pattern matching the style of the bathroom.

2. The knob of the shower

One or more jets of water, it is up to you. if you have a boiler, make sure it has enough pressure to feed the revenue.

3. The slip

If the tub is slippery or if you have small children, the mats can avoid accidents.

4. The support bar

The support bar is a useful accessory for the elderly.

5. The accessories for the well-being

So that the relaxation is very complete, some bathtubs (generally those acrylic) systems have integrated Jacuzzi and hydrotherapy. To have these babies, however, you must have a very large bathroom, because in width measuring at least 1.50 m!

Good to know: Always ask for the complete technical file to your dealer and make sure your future tank is produced according to ecological criteria and responsible. You can also install a tub or hydrotherapy in the bathtub that you already have, if it meets all the required criteria (size, material), but it is better to resort to a qualified service personnel. To enable persons with reduced mobility to bathe there are different accessories such as the stretcher shower or folding chair. Another approach is the bathtub with the door, which ensures maximum comfort to those who use it but that’s pretty expensive.
