How to hang frames and shelves securely? It may sound easy, but it is not always obvious. Yet, just some basic knowledge to achieve effective and lasting results.
First rule: consider the weight
Even before the purchase of screws or anchors, I suggest you weigh the frame or shelf you want to ask, and the content of what you want to incorporate (books, knickknacks, vases) . When you visit the home center, you will have an easier time making your choice.
Second rule: check the plug into the wall
Is your wall of wood, drywall, cement, brick? In all cases, you will need to know if where you want to hang your picture or your tablet will be strong enough to carry the weight. Personally, I trust the good old technique of hitting the wall or ceiling to see if there is a stud (stud), a medium capable of hosting my office. Then I drilled a hole with a wood drill bit 1/8 of an inch to see if there actually wood or not.
Adapt your anchor
This is after analyzing the material of your wall (wood, gypsum, cement, brick ) and the weight of what you want to get hooked, you can choose the type of anchor that will suit the job you want run. You will find, on the packaging, the weighting values for the types of hooks or screws adapted. It is best to choose for the same type of anchors, those metal rather than plastic anchors that break easily into the wall. These tips will be useful both in the installation of a plant hook, mirror, a frame, shelves as curtain rods.
Ceiling
On photos 1 and 2, you will find two types of hook that you used to hang a plant, for example, or a rack (rack pots). The anchoring disc (spring atrium) is recommended for plasterboard ceilings, plaster and for heavier loads.
To repair holes
Obviously, if you choose to use a butterfly anchor (photo 1), the hole that you needed to do to let in the eye will leave a visible mark on your ceiling. You will then have two choices: patch up the holes, sanding and painting the ceiling or use a plank of wood you amenagerez a bit like a ceiling, a decorative, to hide the holes.
A concrete ceiling
To make a hole in a cement ceiling, I advise you to use screws in cement, as illustrated in Figure 4.
Frames
The brackets for executives will be chosen based on weight. In gypsum board, will be favored head nails very very thin and flared like drywall nails. The white hooks, illustrated in Figure 14, will serve more to establish frameworks lighter. In this case, you will not need to drill your wall to check where is the support. The hooks of the longest and widest support heavier loads.
For mirrors
In the case of mirrors filled frame, which are heavy and fragile, we must think of a solid support (see photo 15). You screw them, initially, the two rings behind the frame, taking care to have first measured their location well. Then you will spend the wire rope (photo 16). You can find different models depending on the weight you desire it supports. If you have a mirror very heavy and large, you can weave two, three son metal together to solidify them. In terms of wall anchors, make sure you put them level, if you are considering using two
It would be better to test the strength by standing on top of a towel or mat and stirring the mirror from side to side while holding the wire. If your installation is not sufficient to support its weight, the drop will be less severe if your mirror falls from above. If your mirror has no wood framing or to hang back, you can paste directly on the wall. This course is ideal if you want it to remain in place for quite some time. You get to do it well keep using transparent silicone that you will divide into the frame behind the mirror and at the center in small quantities. The glue will take about 24 hours to dry and be completely solid. The dry weather, install wooden boards vertically to enable adequate support to your frame. If you want one day off the mirror to relocate, you only have to slip behind a brass wire to cut the silicone. Finally, if you do not want to stick your mirror, you can also use exposed fasteners plastic or stainless steel you will ask its four corners.
