This week, I say to Marie-Claude wishing to know more about the planned transformation of wallpaper on a counter: “I would change the color of the counter of my bathroom. I saw you in Web TV a desk covered with a wallpaper that you added a layer of crystal water. I wonder if it requires special care and if it lasts long. Thank you in advance. ”
Hi Marie-Claude,
This project (wallpaper on a counter) was a first for me and the result, very nice on TV, is not resistant to long term. Moreover, having very little time to do the work for the TV does not wait long enough to let the glue dry wallpaper and then to apply at least three coats of varnish, leaving enough dry between coats to get a satisfactory result. It was really a temporary solution and short term in order to sell the house and leave it to the new owner to choose a new counter top.
By cons, in your case if you can really take the time necessary to perform steps including drying time, the result can be beautiful and relatively durable. In these steps, we must add a bead of silicone around the sink and other places where there could be water infiltration. It must also make sure not to let water accumulate in places where it can penetrate as on the edge of the sink. Since this is the wallpaper, if you drop something on it and it makes a hole, it will immediately put the varnish on top to seal the hole. So as you can see, this is an inexpensive solution, but also a bit fragile and temporary until they can find or have the budget to make a beautiful transformation.
